2003 Riesling... A variety much neglected in Mudgee. Floral and citrus blossom on the nose leads to a mandarin/tangerine palate with a touch of residual sweetness, finished with bracing acid. Not "sickly sweet" at all, but the fresh fruit flavours really match spicy foods well. The first of an excellent 2003 crop.
A wine regaining popularity as more people find out how well it works with Thai and other Asian foods. The colour of sun bleached straw and the aroma of Orange blossom. Floral / citrus palate has a dash of residual sugar like a newly peeled mandarin. ***1/2 WINESTATE NSW Tasting
